On Sunday, Louise Butcher will cross the finish line of the London Marathon completely topless. But this is no stunt, ‘The Topless Runner’, as she’s become known, is Louise’s celebration of her body and the power in women to fight back against breast cancer. Louise was diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer just three weeks after a clear mammogram in 2022. A mastectomy would not only remove the cancer, it would protect her from its return into the future. Running gave her a release, and just six weeks post surgery, Louise ran her first ever marathon and now dedicates herself to running with her mastectomy scars on show, to become the now-global voice she never had.
