Queensland government facing budget black hole of $24 billion

The Queensland government’s budget black hole has risen to almost $24 billion.

Economists have warned Treasurer David Janetzki he may need to break an election promise to solve the issue.

Costs have increased by $1.8 billion after the federal government promised to invest $7.2 billion into safety upgrades for the Bruce Highway.

Premier David Crisafulli welcomed the Labor Party’s package, claiming the federal Opposition would have made a similar offer.
